Curves has been a life saver for me.

My Curves membership has always been important to me. However, when my husband's health began to fail, I soon realized how much! During the weeks that we went without outside help and I could not leave his side, I missed the camaraderie as well as the physical benefits of my strength workouts. When he passed away my blood pressure soared to over 200. The doctor wanted to put me on medication, but I chose to try to get it back to normal without chemicals. Each day I monitored my blood pressure before and after workouts at Curves and watched it steadily return to a normal level.

My Curves Story My name is Amber Peppentenzza. I am a 43 year-old single parent of a 22-year-old son, Joseph, who is a great inspiration to me. I am anticipating graduation with my Master’s degree in Psychology from Ashford University in May 2018.  I started at Curves in June of 2015 after having broken my leg about 6 months earlier. I weighed 253 pounds at the start of my Curves journey. The goals I set were to strengthen my leg, lose weight, and to be able to get up the stairs at my son’s apartment. After the first three weeks of daily workouts, I was climbing those steps without stopping for breath! Little by little the weight came off. It has not been an easy journey. I struggled at first to lose weight. Two years later, I weigh 184 pounds. I have lost a total of 70 pounds and 10.6% body fat! Now my weight goal is in reach. My current goal is to lose about 40 pounds more. Curves has changed my life Over time. I have made new friends and gained confidence to succeed in other areas of life as well. This year, I started participating in Zumba twice a week at Curves. This has helped to build and tighten my muscles and boosted my weight loss just when I had begun to get discouraged. I look forward to working out a Curves each day in hopes of reaching my goal. I seem to have confidence that I will achieve my goal. My Curves coach, Pam Hicks, has been a great inspiration to me, and encourages me to excel on a day to day basis. Curves is a great place to work out, and I hope that I will be an inspiration to others. Just this month my mother finally joined Curves! I can’t wait to continue my journey through the years ahead.
